Through a constructive vision aimed at contributing to Afghanistan’s re- construction and economic development, Khawar Construction Company (KCC) as a private independent company initiated a significant investment in a very critical situation. Years ago, it laid the foundation for the future Kabul New City, which is currently being implemented in the area, by launching the first modern township under the name of “Green Town” in its own property in the desert of Deh Sabz. The goal was to transform Deh Sabz ( literally, the green village) into Green Town and later into a green capital or city, which now lies at the heart of the recently planned Kabul New City Mega Project. leveraging its unique experience of investing and working in a politically and economically unstable environment, challenging in terms of security, and deeply traditional from a cultural perspective, Khawar demonstrated sincere engagement in the country and remained committed to contributing to the development of New Kabul and a new Afghanistan. In line with this spirit, KCC partnered with the government of Afghanistan to implement parcel B of the first phase of Kabul New City. This project will initially cover an area of 250 Hectares encompassing residential, commercial, sport, recreational and other zones, as well as standard infrastructure.
Kabul New City (KNC) is an urban development mega project initiated by the Afghan government in 2006 and approved by the cabinet in 2009, covering an area of 722 square kilometers in the north-east of Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. Designed with the support of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in DehSabz, the project is envisioned, as a comprehensive urban development, a response to the challenges of Kabul, the current capital, The city is strategically planned to unfold in two main stages over a span of 30 years. However, due to multiple challenges, including insecurity, the project’s implementation remained behind schedule. In August 2023, the construction of parcel B, the first phase of Kabul New City was inaugurated through the signing of a contract between the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing (MoUDH) and Khawar Construction Company (KCC) as the developer. Kabul New City is planned to offer a full spectrum of facilities of a modern metropolis and accommodate three million inhabitants, providing a substantial solution to the rapidly growing population’s needs in the capital.
The construction of parcel B of the first phase of Kabul New City, was recently inaugurated in August 2023 through the signing of a contract between the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing and Khawar Company. The implementation of theproject is in progress and will initially cover an area of 250 Hectares. The construction of this parcel will be carried out in different stages encompassing residential and commercial buildings including residential villas, and related educational, health, sport, recreational and other facilities. The project will include essential infrastructure such as roads, sewer system, water and electricity.
